What Are Data Engrams?
Have you ever updated a document and then later wanted to go back to a previous version of that document? This is basically what Data Engrams™ allow you to do. They work like revision history which allows you to go back to previous versions of your data. But what are Data Engrams?
Data Engrams basically are copies of your files at different points in time. NeuShield Data Sentinel uses Mirror Shielding™ technology at its core to protect your data. Mirror Shielding prevents your files from being directly modified and instead stores the changes in an overlay. (See How Does Mirror Shielding Work? for more details.) These changes to your files are stored by NeuShield Data Sentinel as Data Engrams.
How to Use Data Engrams
If you have the Premium edition of Data Sentinel, then you can use the revision history feature. Only files in a protected folder can be restored to a different revision.
To restore a file:
- Start Windows Explorer and browse to the file you wish to restore.
- Right-click on the file and select ‘Properties’ from the menu.
- Open the ‘NeuShield’ tab.
- Select the revision of the file you wish to restore, and press ‘Restore’.
