NeuShield Partners with Data Guards to Deliver Instant Ransomware Recovery for MSP Clients

‌‌‌NeuShield recently announced a strategic partnership with Data Guards, a Canada-based managed service provider, to bring instant ransomware recovery and advanced data protection to MSP clients.

The partnership is already demonstrating real-world results. During a ransomware attack against a regional museum, more than 6.2 terabytes of critical data were encrypted. Using NeuShield Data Sentinel, Data Guards was able to fully restore the environment in approximately 15 minutes, compared to more than five days using traditional backup restoration methods.

By integrating NeuShield Data Sentinel into its managed security offerings, Data Guards can provide customers with instant recovery of encrypted data, protection against ransomware encryption and file tampering, reduced downtime, and a powerful complement to existing backup and security solutions. The partnership reinforces a growing industry focus on combining prevention with rapid recovery to maintain business continuity when attacks bypass traditional defenses.

The Missing Layer in the Fight You Thought You Understood

A recent Fast Company Executive Board article by NeuShield CEO Elisha Riedlinger explores an often-overlooked aspect of ransomware defense: data exfiltration.

While detection, prevention, network monitoring, and access controls remain essential, modern ransomware attacks increasingly rely on stealing data before encrypting it. Attackers use that stolen information as leverage, turning ransomware into both a disruption and extortion threat.

The article also highlights a critical security gap that many organizations overlook: not just who is accessing data, but how it is being accessed. A legitimate user opening files through a normal application may be expected behavior, while the same user accessing large amounts of data through scripts, command-line tools, or automated export processes may indicate elevated risk. Building context-aware controls around data access can help organizations close this gap and strengthen resilience against modern ransomware attacks.

If you’re not already following NeuShield on LinkedIn, we invite you to join us. In addition to company updates, product announcements, and industry news, we regularly share analysis of emerging cyber threats, ransomware trends, and practical guidance for improving cyber resilience.

One recent post discussed the VECT ransomware strain, which contained significant coding flaws that permanently damaged files larger than 128 KB. Even victims who paid the ransom and received a decryption key could not fully recover their data. Researchers identified multiple implementation mistakes and suggested that portions of the malware may have been AI-generated or built from outdated code.

Stories like this reinforce an important lesson: recovery should never depend on cybercriminals delivering a working decryption key. Whether due to bugs, poor coding, or intentional destruction, encrypted data may become permanently unrecoverable. That’s why organizations need recovery strategies that enable fast or instant restoration without relying on attackers to return access to critical data.
