Most Innovative Business Leaders in 2022

This month, Yuen-Pin Yeap, our CEO, was named as one of the 10 most innovative business leaders poised to make a difference in 2022. In this article he says that although there have been many breakthroughs over the years in the form of Next-Gen endpoint security, they are still use various forms of detection and require constant updates. As good as current technologies are today, threats still seem to avoid detection at some point and infect systems. The article continues as it talks about the initial struggle of NeuShield and how the solution for this helped in multiple ways.

Microsoft Update broke our VPN

Last month during the normal weekly update, Microsoft released patches KB5009543 and KB5009566. These updates broke the VPN connection back to our NeuShield headquarters. It’s a good thing we run NeuShield on all our Windows computers because it’s easy for us to revert this damage with the One-Click Restore feature of NeuShield Data Sentinel. This is the second time in the last 12 months that a Microsoft update has broken something on our systems.

Cybercrime: The Dark Side Of Entrepreneurship

There are 4.66 billion internet users worldwide, according to Statista, comprising approximately 60% of the global population. This new normal comes with increasing cybersecurity challenges, the most prominent of which is ransomware.

Ransomware is a form of malware that bad actors install onto a victim’s device to encrypt files. They then demand a ransom, typically in Bitcoins, for the return of a company’s data. Even if the victim pays, however, there is no guarantee they’ll get their data back. What internet users and businesses need to know about ransomware is that the days of lone-wolf attacks are largely gone. Today, larger, more sophisticated groups are on a continual hunt for their next victims.

Cyberattackers have various agendas — corporate espionage, geopolitical motivations, hacktivism, cyberwarfare and terrorism — but most cybercrime entrepreneurs engaged in ransomware are in it for the money.
